Survey of NASA Industrial Base for Shuttle and Constellation

In July 2010, the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) initiated an assessment of the U.S. industrial base that supports NASA. The goal is to understand the impacts resulting from both the retirement of the Space Shuttle program and NASA’s transition from the Constellation program.

To conduct the assessment, BIS deployed a survey to over 1,300 companies on July 12, 2010. Response to the survey is mandatory under BIS’s authority under the Defense Production Act of 1950.
