NOAA Releases Space Weather Data Pilot Results

In August 2024, NOAA released the summary of the results of the Space Weather Data Pilot conducted under NOAA’s National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) Commercial Data Program.
In this Pilot, NOAA evaluated space weather parameters derived from procured GNSS radio occultation data.
This preliminary analysis indicates that the commercially sourced data could be useful; however, based on the pilot results and the subsequent Government evaluations, NOAA concludes that further analysis of the data is needed in order to implement it into NOAA operational systems.
