DOC to Host Space Export Control Industry Day on April 17 (UPDATED)

The Commerce Department will host a public meeting on space export controls on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, from 1:00-2:30 p.m. in Washington, D.C.

The meeting is being organized in cooperation with the Department of Transportation and NASA in support of the National Space Council and Space Policy Directive-2, “Streamlining Regulations on Commercial Use of Space.” U.S. spacecraft, launch vehicle, and space component manufacturers are encouraged to attend.

The purpose of the meeting is to present information about the National Space Council-led review of U.S. export control regulations and to discuss the Advanced Notices of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRMs) on this topic issued by the Departments of State and Commerce on March 8, 2019.

The meeting will feature speakers from the National Space Council, the Department of State Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), and the Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS).

Industry participants will have an opportunity to pose questions and make comments directly to the export control regulators about the ANPRMs prior to submitting individual filings into the public dockets. The due date for ANPRM comments is April 22, 2019.

This meeting will not seek to establish industry consensus on any topic.

Companies interested in holding a private consultation with the government for proprietary or other reasons may request one, to be held after the public meeting ends at 2:30. We will reserve 15-minute slots for such consultations from 2:30-5:00 p.m. on a first come, first served basis.

RSVP by Monday, April 15, using the following Google Form: [link deleted]

We will accommodate industry participants up to the capacity of the meeting room. For building access reasons, we are limiting this event to U.S. citizens.
