National Academies Report on U.S. Space Priorities

On July 7, the National Research Council released a report on America’s Future in Space: Aligning the Civil Space Program with National Needs. It calls for a closer connection between U.S. space activity and broader national imperatives such as clean energy, environmental protection, and foreign diplomacy. It also recommends “rationalizing” satellite export controls.

The report comes just as the new Administration is reviewing aspects of national space policy.
